FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Find clear answers about Coda's role, manufacturing, minimum orders, costs, samples, origin claims, import requirements and formulation rights.
Coda is your point of contact for Australian product development. We turn your requirements into a product brief and manage the agreed work across manufacturer selection, quotations, samples, packaging and production preparation. External manufacturers develop and make the product, laboratories carry out testing, and import and labelling specialists handle their respective areas.
Yes. We help develop products carrying your brand name and logo. You can start with an existing formulation, customise selected features such as ingredients or fragrance, or commission a new formulation. Your product brief and sales plan guide the options we present, including what the manufacturer can supply, the cost and the minimum order.
Your product quotation will state the minimum order as a specific quantity. We distinguish the minimum manufacturing batch from minimum orders for containers and printed packaging, and explain how these relate to the number of finished units. Share your intended first order so we can propose manufacturing and packaging options suited to that scale.
Once the product, packaging and quantity are defined, we propose an estimated first-order total. The quotation sets out the Coda-managed work included, separately charged items and payment stages. Freight, customs and taxes are identified where they require separate settlement. Paid work starts only after you approve the quotation and scope.
We can plan a sample stage before production. We confirm with the manufacturer whether an existing sample is available or a new sample is needed for your ingredients, flavour or feel. Before work starts, we agree quantities, fees, included revisions and dispatch timing, and clarify whether brand printing or final packaging is included. Commercial production follows your approval of the sample and final specification.
We help communicate Australian manufacturing through suitable product and packaging labels. From manufacturer selection, we check the actual ingredients and Australian manufacturing processes, gather origin evidence and confirm wording against Australian and destination-market rules before a production order. If you want the Australian Made certification logo on a product exported to Korea, we explain product-specific eligibility and the application process, and coordinate packaging use after a licence is granted. Food sold within Australia is labelled under the applicable food labelling standard.
Coda connects the Australian manufacturer's document preparation with the work of your Korean importer and specialists. Before production, the team establishes the product classification, ingredients and Korean label, and identifies the facility registrations, test records and import documents needed for that product. The Korean importer and specialists handle the relevant authorities' registration, declaration and inspection procedures, including MFDS procedures where applicable, and customs clearance. We set out the required documents, responsible parties and preparation sequence for you.
We discuss formula usage rights and sales exclusivity with the manufacturer around your business plans. If you also want to own the formula or have it made by another factory, raise this during the development discussion. Before development starts, the rights the manufacturer agrees to provide, the documentation and the costs are set out in writing.
Our focus is food and drink products such as drink powders and electrolyte sticks, skincare, body and hair care, and botanical cosmetic balms. Tell us the product type and key ingredients you have in mind, and we will outline the formats and packaging the relevant manufacturers can offer. Products pictured on this site are illustrative development examples.
You can request a product built around Australian ingredients. We identify suppliers with origin records, suitable ingredient formats and indicative costs. The manufacturer and destination-market specialists establish permitted and technically suitable inclusion levels; where supply or formulation constraints arise, we propose alternatives.
Once the specification and development route are defined, you receive an indicative schedule covering samples, testing, packaging and production. Working from an existing formulation generally involves fewer development stages than creating a new one. Sample revisions, ingredient and packaging lead times, and required tests shape the overall timeline; we also show when your approvals are needed to work towards the target launch.
Private Label uses a manufacturer's existing formulation with your brand and packaging. Semi-Custom changes selected ingredients or features, such as fragrance or flavour, within the manufacturer's available options. Full Custom creates a new formulation to your brief and generally involves more development fees, sampling and testing time.
Yes. We help prepare the containers, sticks or pouches, labels and cartons your product needs. We coordinate with packaging suppliers on filling-compatible specifications, minimum orders, quotations and lead times. At quotation stage, we identify who handles design, label checks and print ordering; printing follows your approval of the final artwork.
Yes. You can enquire while you are still shaping your product or brand. Tell us your product idea, budget, intended first order and sales plan, and we will explain the decisions and preparation needed next. We narrow the product and packaging options around your budget and manufacturing minimums so you can decide whether to proceed with the cost of each stage in view.
You can enquire about development for Japan and other markets as well as Korea. Coda handles the Australian development and production-preparation scope, while destination-market importers and specialists handle local registration, labelling and customs. Tell us the sales country at the outset; the proposal will distinguish Coda's work from the local arrangements you need, including appointing the relevant specialists.
